Jakub Herman
Biography:
Jakub Herman (Military University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland) works in organic synthesis and liquid crystal engineering. He obtained his PhD in 2015 and Habilitation (DSc) in 2023. His research focuses on the molecular design of unconventional liquid crystalline materials. He has been a key investigator and PI in several national grants (funded by NCN and NCBR), developing specialized nematics for UV, NIR, MWIR, and microwave applications. Currently, he leads an FNP First Team project, financed by the European Union, dedicated to ferroelectric nematic materials. His research primarily explores the molecular design of highly polar molecules, polar nematic phases, and spontaneous helical structures (NTBF phase). He is the author of numerous scientific publications within the liquid crystal community and a dedicated advocate for supporting young scientists.
